How to layer chains: a style guide

Three chain combinations that always work, with the lengths and link sizes to order them by the foot: the everyday stack (16" paperclip, 18" satellite, 20" cable, all gold filled), mixed metals (16" sterling curb with an 18" gold filled rope), and a stone as the anchor (18" gemstone rosary chain under a 16" plain cable).

How many feet to order: a 16" necklace needs about 1.5 ft including the clasp, an 18" about 1.75 ft, a 20–24" about 2–2.25 ft, and a 7–7.5" bracelet about 0.7 ft, so a 10 ft cut makes roughly 15 bracelets.
